SECI (Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited) and Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote solar energy adoption across Kendriya Vidyalayas nationwide. The initiative aims to expand renewable energy use in educational institutions, encourage sustainable practices and support India’s clean energy transition.
The MoU was signed and exchanged by Deepesh Gehlot, Indian Statistical Service (ISS), Additional Commissioner at KVS, and Manas Ranjan Mishra, Assistant General Manager and Head of Department (Solar) at SECI. Both officials represented their respective organisations during the agreement.
Promoting Solar Energy in Educational Institutions
The collaboration seeks to advance the adoption of solar power across the Kendriya Vidyalaya network. Solarisation of educational institutions can support the use of clean electricity while reducing dependence on conventional energy sources.
The initiative also aims to encourage sustainability within school campuses and strengthen awareness of renewable energy among students and educational communities.
Supporting India’s Clean Energy Transition
The partnership between SECI and KVS aligns with India’s broader efforts to increase renewable energy adoption across public institutions and promote sustainable energy practices.
Through this collaboration, the two organisations intend to support the integration of solar energy into the education sector and contribute to the country’s ongoing clean energy transition.
Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) is a Navratna Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) under the Government of India, focused on promoting renewable energy development across the country. Designated as a Renewable Energy Implementing Agency (REIA), SECI facilitates solar, wind and hybrid power projects through competitive e-bidding and long-term power purchase agreements. It also supports innovative solutions, including round-the-clock renewable power and energy storage, to accelerate India’s clean energy transition and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
