Jakson Group plans to invest ₹6,863 crore in an integrated solar manufacturing facility in Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh, with a proposed annual production capacity of 10 GW of silicon ingots and wafers and 5 GW of solar cells. The project is expected to strengthen India’s domestic solar manufacturing supply chain and expand the company’s presence in upstream solar components.
The facility will be developed at Meedivemula village through Jakson Integrated Solar. The Andhra Pradesh State Investment Promotion Board has recommended the allocation of 290 acres for the proposed project.
The manufacturing facility is planned for development in three phases, with an estimated 2,000 jobs expected to be generated through the project.
The first phase will establish 3 GW of annual manufacturing capacity each for silicon ingots and wafers and solar cells. Commercial production from this phase is targeted for May 2028.
The remaining manufacturing capacity is scheduled to become operational by 2030, subject to project implementation and development timelines.
The proposed facility will expand Jakson Group’s solar manufacturing operations beyond solar modules into silicon ingots, wafers and solar cells. These components form key stages of the solar photovoltaic manufacturing process.
Developing domestic production capacity for these upstream components could help reduce India’s dependence on imported solar manufacturing materials and support the expansion of its domestic solar industry.
The project also aligns with Andhra Pradesh’s efforts to attract investments in renewable energy manufacturing and establish the state as a hub for clean energy industries.
The land allocation and implementation of the project remain subject to the completion of the necessary processes and project milestones.
