ACEN Australia has successfully secured access rights to the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) for three of its key clean energy initiatives in New South Wales.
The projects include the 920-megawatt (MW) Valley of the Winds wind project, along with the 600 MW Birriwa Solar and the 600 MW/2-hour Birriwa Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). These developments have now been granted the right to connect to the REZ’s transmission infrastructure.
The Birriwa Solar and BESS projects received approval from the New South Wales Department of Planning in August 2024, while the Valley of the Winds project is currently in the final phase of the planning review process.
This milestone follows ACEN Australia’s successful AU$750 million (US$474.68 million) portfolio debt refinancing last month, further supporting its renewable energy growth.
“Securing access rights for these high-value projects reflects our disciplined, responsible approach to development and strengthens ACEN Australia’s position as a trusted partner in our nation’s clean economy,” said ACEN Australia Managing Director David Pollington.
