ACME Solar Holdings Limited has strengthened its battery energy storage portfolio in India with the commissioning of a new battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Rajasthan.
The company announced the development through a regulatory filing submitted to the stock exchanges on June. The newly commissioned facility has been developed by ACME Sun Power Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of ACME Solar Holdings.
The latest project is located at Badi Sid village in Bap tehsil, covering areas across Phalodi and Jodhpur districts of Rajasthan. The battery storage facility has a capacity of 33.331 MW/120.384 MWh and is scheduled to achieve its Commercial Operation.
The commissioning adds another operational asset to ACME Solar’s expanding renewable energy and energy storage portfolio as the company continues to focus on hybrid renewable power solutions.
ACME’s Operational Storage Capacity Reaches 300 MW
With the addition of the new facility, ACME Sun Power’s total operational battery energy storage capacity has increased to 300 MW/1,404.32 MWh.
The achievement marks a major step in ACME’s energy storage expansion strategy as India continues to increase renewable energy capacity and requires advanced solutions to manage grid stability.
Battery storage systems are becoming increasingly important for supporting renewable energy integration by storing excess electricity during periods of high generation and supplying power during peak demand hours.
Expanding Renewable Energy Storage Portfolio
The latest commissioning follows ACME Solar’s previous energy storage developments, including the commissioning of Phase-IV of its Rajasthan BESS project, which added 33.33 MW/160.48 MWh of storage capacity.
The company has also expanded its clean energy pipeline through a long-term agreement with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for a 300 MW Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project integrated with 1,200 MWh of energy storage capacity.
The 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with SECI is aimed at providing reliable renewable power backed by storage, supporting the country’s transition towards a more flexible electricity system.
Supporting India’s Energy Transition
The growth of ACME Solar’s battery storage capacity comes as India places greater emphasis on energy storage solutions to support rising solar and wind power deployment.
Large-scale BESS projects are expected to play a critical role in reducing power supply fluctuations, improving grid reliability and enabling higher renewable energy penetration.
With its growing portfolio of renewable energy and storage projects, ACME Solar is positioning itself as a key participant in India’s evolving clean energy sector.
