ACME Solar Expands Rajasthan BESS Footprint to 3.62 GWh Across Three Sites

ACME Solar Expands Rajasthan BESS Footprint to 3.62 GWh Across Three Sites

Gurugram-based ACME Solar Holdings Ltd has expanded its battery energy storage portfolio in Rajasthan, with its operational Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) capacity now reaching approximately 3.62 GWh across three project sites. The company, through its subsidiaries, has cumulatively commissioned 2.29 GWh of BESS capacity during the current financial year to date, marking a significant expansion of its presence in India’s rapidly developing energy storage market.

According to the company, the scale-up is aimed at strengthening grid stability, meeting peak-hour electricity demand and supporting the integration of renewable power into the grid. The growing storage portfolio is also expected to play a role in enabling more reliable round-the-clock renewable energy supply as India increases its dependence on intermittent solar and wind generation.

One of ACME Solar’s recent additions is a 240.720 MWh BESS project in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, commissioned through its subsidiary ACME Suryodaya. The project is located across Sanwara and Mehar Nagar villages in Pokhran tehsil of Jaisalmer district and was scheduled for commercial operation on July 2.

The company had earlier commissioned an additional 33.331 MW/120.384 MWh BESS project at Badi Sid village in Bap tehsil, covering areas across Rajasthan’s Phalodi and Jodhpur districts. The project was developed through ACME Sun Power Private Limited and forms part of the company’s expanding portfolio of energy storage assets in the state.

ACME Solar said its operational BESS capacity of around 3.62 GWh represents one of the fastest scale-ups of battery storage capacity in India. The company’s expansion comes at a time when large-scale energy storage is gaining importance in the country, driven by increasing renewable energy penetration and the need for flexible power resources capable of balancing demand and supply.

The company’s broader diversified portfolio currently stands at 8,070 MW across solar, wind, storage, firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE), and hybrid solutions. Its operational contracted capacity is around 2,990 MW, alongside approximately 3.62 GWh of operational BESS capacity.

ACME Solar also has 5,080 MW of contracted capacity under construction, while its under-construction portfolio with signed power purchase agreements (PPAs) stands at 3,880 MW. The company operates an in-house engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) and operations and maintenance (O&M) division, allowing it to manage project development and operations across its renewable energy portfolio.

The latest BESS additions strengthen ACME Solar’s position in India’s energy storage sector and highlight the growing role of battery storage in supporting the country’s clean energy transition. As renewable generation capacity continues to expand, the deployment of large-scale storage projects is expected to become increasingly important for peak power management, grid balancing and the delivery of reliable renewable electricity.
