Apraava Energy has successfully commissioned the 22-km 400 kV Fatehgarh IV transmission line along with a 400/220 kV pooling substation in Barmer. Developed through Fatehgarh IV Transmission Limited, this infrastructure is a critical component of the Phase-III Part A1 transmission scheme designed to evacuate renewable energy from the Renewable Energy Zones (REZ) in Rajasthan.
Strengthening Renewable Energy Evacuation
The project is equipped to transmit 2.5 GW of renewable power supported by five 500 MVA transformers. The newly commissioned transmission line connects to Apraava’s Fatehgarh-III substation, enhancing the region’s renewable energy evacuation capabilities, particularly from the Jaisalmer–Barmer belt. This development supports India’s broader clean energy ambitions, including the national target of 500 GW non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.
Rajiv Ranjan Mishra, Managing Director of Apraava Energy, stated, “The commissioning marks a significant milestone for the company as it represents our first large-scale greenfield transmission project. This infrastructure will strengthen Rajasthan’s transmission network and enable reliable dispatch of renewable electricity to demand centres across the country.”
Overcoming Project Challenges
The project was executed despite extreme weather conditions, land acquisition challenges, right-of-way constraints, and temporary work disruptions linked to border-related tensions. Even with these hurdles, the project was completed in a comparatively short timeline, making it one of the fastest delivered among REZ Phase III projects in Rajasthan.
Apraava’s Expanding Transmission and Renewable Portfolio
Apraava Energy currently operates three transmission assets spanning approximately 516 km across Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland, and Manipur, with a total substation capacity of around 3.5 GW. Additionally, the company is developing three greenfield transmission projects under construction, totaling 470 km of transmission lines with nearly 8 GW capacity, including 400 kV and 765 kV double-circuit lines and high-capacity substations in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
Beyond transmission, Apraava maintains a strong renewable energy presence in Rajasthan with three wind projects totaling over 250 MW and three solar projects under construction totaling 550 MW. The company is also deploying 1.1 million smart meters across the state and supports water conservation initiatives in the Thar Desert and education programs for approximately 3,000 out-of-school girls in Fatehgarh block.
This milestone underlines Apraava Energy’s commitment to strengthening India’s renewable energy infrastructure while contributing to sustainable development and community empowerment.
