BYD Retains No. 91 Spot on the 2026 FORTUNE Global 500

BYD has once again been ranked No. 91 on the 2026 FORTUNE Global 500, retaining its position among the world’s top 100 companies by revenue and marking its fifth consecutive appearance on the list.

The achievement reflects a sustained rise in global scale. BYD first entered the Global 500 at No. 436 in 2022, advanced to No. 212 in 2023 and No. 143 in 2024, and entered the top 100 at No. 91 in 2025. By holding this position in 2026, BYD remains the highest-ranked company among the 10 Chinese automotive and automotive-component businesses included in this year’s Global 500.

Behind this progress is a broader vision: creating an integrated new-energy ecosystem spanning electric vehicles, batteries, energy storage, solar solutions, rail transit and electronics. While BYD is widely recognised for new-energy vehicles, BYD Energy Storage is an increasingly important part of the company’s contribution to a cleaner, more resilient global energy system.

BYD Energy Storage delivers solutions across utility-scale, commercial and industrial, residential, microgrid, backup-power and mobile charging applications. Its systems use lithium iron phosphate battery technology, designed to support safety, durability and efficient renewable-energy use. For homes, the Battery-Box portfolio enables solar self-consumption and backup power. For businesses, storage can help manage demand, reduce peak-power costs and improve energy resilience. At grid scale, battery energy storage can balance supply and demand, support frequency regulation, ease transmission constraints and help renewable power serve customers when the sun is not shining or the wind is not blowing.

Recent projects demonstrate the scale of this ambition. In July 2026, BYD Energy Storage announced an 11.275 GWh supply contract for Masdar’s round-the-clock renewable-energy project in Abu Dhabi. The wider project combines 5.2 GW of solar capacity with a 19 GWh battery energy-storage system—designed to deliver clean power around the clock. BYD has also supported a 100 MW/400 MWh energy-storage project in Central California and major utility-scale deployments in Saudi Arabia.

Innovation remains central to this journey. From Blade Battery technology and intelligent energy-management systems to scalable storage architecture and advanced new-energy vehicles, BYD is continuing to turn technological capability into real-world solutions.

This is more than a ranking. It is a signal of long-term commitment: to build technologies that move people, store clean energy and help accelerate the transition to a more sustainable future.

Retention of the No. 91 position in the 2026 FORTUNE Global 500 is more than a revenue milestone for BYD. It reflects the growing influence of new-energy companies in the global industrial economy. BYD’s strength lies in its integrated approach: combining electric vehicles, battery innovation and energy-storage systems to address both mobility and power-sector transformation. As renewable generation expands, dependable storage will be just as important as electric transport. BYD Energy Storage’s increasing presence in utility-scale, commercial and residential projects shows how the company is extending its role beyond vehicles—helping build cleaner, more resilient energy systems. The real test ahead will be turning rapid growth into durable global leadership through innovation, reliability and sustainable value creation.
