Indian tyre manufacturer CEAT Ltd has announced a long-term partnership with CleanMax Enviro Energy Solutions Limited (CleanMax) to source approximately 59 MW of hybrid wind and solar renewable energy under a group captive model for its key manufacturing facilities in Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. The agreement marks a significant step in advancing CEAT’s sustainability and decarbonisation efforts across its operations.
Under the collaboration, CleanMax will develop and supply renewable power specifically to CEAT’s Halol plant in Gujarat and Kanchipuram facility in Tamil Nadu, utilising a combined wind-solar hybrid project structure designed for consistent generation output and enhanced plant performance throughout the year.
Renewable Power Generation and Impact
The hybrid wind-solar projects are expected to generate around 13.58 crore units of clean electricity annually, significantly boosting CEAT’s renewable energy intake to approximately 60 percent of its total consumption at these facilities. The implementation of the hybrid design ensures a balanced energy profile, enhances grid stability, and delivers a higher plant load factor by harnessing complementary wind and solar generation patterns.
This renewable energy deployment is also projected to reduce CO₂ emissions by about 100,000 tonnes per year, equivalent to planting nearly 4.5 million trees annually further underpinning CEAT’s commitment to achieving its long-term environmental goals.
Leadership Perspectives
Kuldeep Jain, Managing Director of CleanMax, said, “We are proud to collaborate with CEAT, a globally recognised brand in the automotive sector, and support its strategic sustainability objectives by enabling the decarbonisation of operations across its key manufacturing hubs. These projects demonstrate how well-structured collaborations can accelerate the adoption of renewable energy and build a more sustainable energy future for large-scale manufacturing.”
Echoing this sentiment, Roopesh R., Senior Vice President – Procurement at CEAT, stated, “This long-term partnership with CleanMax allows CEAT to strengthen our renewable energy footprint across Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. Sustainability is an important part of how we plan for the long term, and CEAT is committed to growing our business responsibly while remaining resilient for the future.”
He added that integrating hybrid wind-solar renewable energy complements CEAT’s broader efforts in green sourcing, sustainable transportation, biodegradable packaging, and reduced emissions, offering both environmental and operational benefits.
Strategic Benefits and Outlook
This partnership is expected to significantly enhance CEAT’s energy security and operational efficiency while contributing meaningfully to annual reductions in carbon emissions. CleanMax’s experience in deploying renewable energy solutions for the commercial and industrial sector underpins the project’s success, supporting CEAT’s long-term aspiration toward net-zero operations.
