Coal India Limited (CIL) has issued a Notice Inviting Tender (NIT) for the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) of a 187.50 MW/750 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at Choutuppal, Telangana, along with 15 years of Comprehensive Operation and Maintenance (O&M).
The open tender, floated by the Solar Division of Coal India Headquarters, Kolkata, is being conducted through an item-rate contract under an online bidding process. The project is expected to be completed within 5,805 days, including the long-term O&M period.
The tender was published on July 31, 2026, with bid submission commencing the same day. Interested bidders can download the tender documents until 5:00 PM on August 19, 2026, which is also the last date and time for bid submission. Technical and financial bids are scheduled to be opened online in Kolkata at 11:00 AM on August 20, 2026.
A pre-bid meeting will be held in hybrid mode on August 4, 2026, at 11:00 AM. The physical venue is Coal Bhawan, Action Area 1A, New Town, Rajarhat, Kolkata – 700156, while online participation will also be available. Requests for clarification may be submitted between July 31 and August 12, 2026, up to 5:00 PM.
The tender requires a fixed Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) of ₹50 lakh, with no exemption permitted. Bids must be submitted in two covers, comprising technical and financial documents. The technical submission should include proof of work experience, financial turnover, net worth, digital signature certificate, integrity pact, local content certificate, joint venture documents (where applicable), and other documents specified in the tender. The financial cover will contain the prescribed Bill of Quantities (BOQ).
As part of the qualification requirements, bidders must also furnish statutory documents, including PAN, legal status, and GST registration certificate.
Coal India has appointed Shri O.P. Singh, Shri K.D. Tripathi and Shri Rakesh Mohan as Independent External Monitors for the tender process.
The project is part of Coal India Limited’s growing clean energy initiatives and aims to develop large-scale battery energy storage infrastructure to support grid stability and the integration of renewable energy in Telangana.
