The Delhi Government has initiated the long-awaited disbursement of electric vehicle (EV) purchase subsidies under the Delhi EV Policy. According to officials, the Transport Department has started releasing incentives to 3,948 verified beneficiaries, including companies and firms whose documentation and eligibility checks have been completed. The total subsidy amount being disbursed in this phase is approximately ₹7.95 crore.
Large Number of Pending Claims Addressed
Data from the Delhi EV Incentive Portal shows that 22,733 subsidy claims were pending. Following de-duplication and Aadhaar validation, 16,892 individual cases were forwarded to the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) for Aadhaar-based Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Out of these:
- 12,877 beneficiaries have completed Aadhaar seeding
- Eligible subsidy amount: ₹24.04 crore
- 4,015 cases (₹7.25 crore) are under Aadhaar verification
Strengthening Transparency and Efficiency
Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh stated that delays occurred earlier due to lack of priority given to electric mobility and pollution reduction. He emphasized that the current government has taken concrete steps to ensure timely and transparent subsidy disbursal.
He said, “The Transport Department has strengthened the subsidy disbursement mechanism by migrating the system to the PFMS-based Direct Benefit Transfer platform to ensure transparency, efficiency and seamless transfer of funds directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts.”
Portal Upgrade and Faster Processing
The minister also informed that the Delhi EV Incentive Portal is being upgraded and streamlined. The revamped portal has been operationalised, and pending verified cases will be processed on priority to ensure faster subsidy release.
Push Towards Sustainable Mobility
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, Singh said, “The Delhi government is committed to making the capital a leader in sustainable mobility and environmental protection.”
He added that a new environment-friendly EV policy will soon be introduced to accelerate adoption through subsidies and incentives while strengthening the EV ecosystem.
The move is expected to boost EV adoption and support Delhi’s transition towards cleaner and greener mobility.
