Dr. Prasanna Kumar Acharya Takes Charge as CMD of NLC India

NLC India Limited has appointed Dr. Prasanna Kumar Acharya as its new Chairman and Managing Director (CMD). Dr. Acharya brings nearly three decades of professional experience across the power, mining and infrastructure sectors. Before taking over as CMD, he served as Director (Finance) at NLC India Limited.

Dr. Acharya’s appointment marks a new leadership phase for NLC India, with his professional background covering key segments of the power and infrastructure industries. His experience includes both financial and operational roles across major organisations in India.

Over the course of his career, Dr. Acharya has held key positions at several major Indian organisations, including GRIDCO, NTPC and Tata Power. His professional experience spans multiple areas of the energy and infrastructure sectors, including power generation, transmission, distribution and mining, as well as metro rail infrastructure.

Dr. Acharya holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Honours) from Utkal University, Odisha, along with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from M.S. Law College, Cuttack. He also holds a Master of Commerce from Ravenshaw University, Odisha, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA).

With experience across finance and various operational segments of the power and mining industries, Dr. Acharya takes charge of NLC India at a time when the company operates across the energy and mining sectors.

His appointment brings experience spanning financial management, power-sector operations, mining and infrastructure to the company’s senior leadership.

Prior to becoming CMD, his role as Director (Finance) at NLC India provided him with experience in the company’s financial and corporate operations. His earlier assignments at organisations such as GRIDCO, NTPC and Tata Power have also contributed to his experience across different areas of the power sector.

His career has covered a range of infrastructure activities, including electricity generation, transmission and distribution, along with mining and metro rail projects. This diverse professional background spans several areas connected to NLC India’s operations and business activities.
