Enrich has made an agreement under a contract for the implementation of a 290 MWh BESS project at NTPC Simhadri thermal power station in Andhra Pradesh. The agreement was signed in the office of NTPC at New Delhi in the presence of key representatives from both sides.
Core Battery & Management Systems
- End-to-End Installation: Complete setup and integration of the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) with the existing thermal power plant infrastructure.
- Battery Systems: The physical storage units for the 290 MWh capacity.
- Battery Management System (BMS): For monitoring cell health, voltage, and temperature.
- Energy Management System (EMS): To optimize the flow of energy and balance supply and demand.
- SCADA: Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition for real-time data collection and system oversight.
Power Conversion & Electrical Infrastructure
- Power Conversion System (PCS): Hardware that converts DC power from the batteries to AC power for the grid.
- Inverter-Duty Transformers: Specialized transformers designed to handle the variable output of solar/storage inverters.
- Substation & Grid Tie-in: Construction of a 400 kVA substation including bay integration into 33 kV switchgear.
- Auxiliary Systems: Supporting electrical infrastructure and internal communication networks.
Safety, Monitoring & Maintenance
- Protection Systems: Advanced electrical protection and relay systems to prevent faults.
- Fire Safety: Comprehensive fire detection and suppression provisions specific to lithium-ion or battery storage hazards.
- Remote Monitoring: Infrastructure to allow for off-site control and performance tracking.
- Operations & Maintenance (O&M): Long-term services to ensure the system operates at peak efficiency throughout its lifecycle.
Arun Tripathi (Director – Renewables Business), Mr. Snehasis Bal (Executive Director – Finance), and Mr. Vinay Vyas (CEO – EPC Business) represented Enrich at the signing ceremony.
Commenting on this achievement, Ishwar Chand Mangal, Board Member and Executive Chairman at Enrich, said, “This landmark BESS project further strengthens our relationship with NTPC, one of Asia’s largest power utility groups. As the grid becomes increasingly renewable-led, energy storage will play a pivotal role and Enrich is ready to be at the forefront of this transformation.”
Ankit Kanchal, Managing Director at Enrich, added, “We thank NTPC for this opportunity. This marks Enrich’s foray into the energy storage business. We have developed BESS EPC capabilities and critical supply-chain relationship both with both local and global partners. Apart from this project, we have also received turnkey BESS orders from private C&I businesses, which are already under execution and will be commissioned soon.”
