Fimer Launches 2 MW Central Inverter for Utility-Scale Solar at REI 2026

Fimer, an Italy-based solar photovoltaic (PV) inverter and energy storage solutions provider, has launched its PVS990-2000 central inverter for utility-scale solar applications at Renewable Energy India (REI) 2026. The inverter delivers up to 1,700 kVA of full-load AC power output and offers a maximum conversion efficiency of at least 99%, targeting India’s growing utility-scale solar market.

The PVS990-2000 supports a maximum DC system voltage of 1,500 V and is designed to handle power conversion in large-scale solar installations. According to the company, multiple units can be connected in parallel to achieve a combined capacity of up to 8,000 kVA, providing flexibility for larger solar power projects.

PVS990-2000 Supports High-Voltage Solar Systems

The PVS990-2000 measures 956 × 2,300 × 2,000 mm in width, height and depth. It connects utility-scale solar PV strings to its built-in maximum power point tracking (MPPT) system through seven DC inputs.

The inverter supports a maximum DC current of 2,300 A and operates across an MPPT voltage range of 935 V to 1,350 V. It converts the direct current generated by solar panels into alternating current for grid connection, delivering up to 1,700 kVA at full load and 600 V. Under overload conditions, its output can reach 2,040 kVA.

With a maximum conversion efficiency of ≥99%, the inverter is designed to minimise power conversion losses in utility-scale solar installations. Its parallel operation capability also allows developers to scale system capacity according to project requirements.

Protection Features and Operating Conditions

Fimer has equipped the PVS990-2000 with an IP65-rated enclosure, providing protection against dust and water ingress. The inverter operates across a temperature range of -20°C to +60°C and uses forced-air cooling to manage heat without requiring a separate chiller.

The system includes AC and DC surge protection devices to help protect against lightning-related electrical surges. Additional safety features include a DC-side fuse and load-break switch, an AC circuit breaker, insulation and ground-fault monitoring, anti-islanding protection and over-temperature protection.

These features are intended to support safe and reliable operation under the demanding conditions associated with large-scale solar power generation.

Fimer Showcases String and Hybrid Inverters

Alongside the PVS990-2000, Fimer showcased its PVM-415 string inverter, rated at 415 kW, for utility-scale solar applications.

For commercial and industrial (C&I) installations, the company presented its PVM-75/125-TL and PVS-100/200-TL inverter ranges for AC-coupled solar PV and energy storage systems. These solutions are designed to support configurations that combine solar generation with battery storage.

Fimer also highlighted its residential hybrid inverter portfolio under the Power Platform. The range includes PowerUNO for single-phase applications and PowerTRIO for three-phase systems.

The product showcase at REI 2026 reflects Fimer’s focus on inverter solutions across utility-scale, commercial, industrial and residential solar segments. The launch of the PVS990-2000 adds a high-capacity central inverter to its portfolio for large-scale solar installations, where conversion efficiency, system scalability and operational reliability are key considerations.
