ACME Solar Holdings Limited reported a more than two-fold increase in consolidated net profit to ₹269 crore in the second quarter of FY27, supported by battery energy storage system (BESS) operations and renewable energy capacity additions. The company recorded a net profit of ₹115 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.
The company’s total income increased to ₹1,007 crore in the July–September quarter of FY27, compared with ₹601 crore in the year-ago period, marking a growth of approximately 67.5%. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose 63.6% year-on-year to ₹874 crore from ₹534 crore in Q2 FY26.
According to the company, higher revenues from battery energy storage systems and additional renewable energy capacity were the primary drivers of its quarterly performance.
ACME Solar Expands Battery Storage Capacity
During Q2 FY27, ACME Solar commissioned 2.1 GWh of battery energy storage capacity, taking its cumulative commissioned BESS capacity to approximately 5.2 GWh. The company said this positioned it as the second-largest operator of installed BESS capacity in India.
Battery storage operations also contributed to electricity sales during peak-demand periods. ACME Solar sold 324 million units (MUs) of electricity through short-term peak-power BESS operations during the quarter, highlighting the growing role of storage in its renewable energy portfolio.
The company generated 1,840 MUs of clean electricity in Q2 FY27, representing a 19.6% increase compared with the corresponding period of FY26. The growth was driven by additional renewable energy capacity and higher solar irradiation.
ACME Solar’s capacity utilisation factor (CUF) improved to 27.8% in Q2 FY27 from 24.1% in the year-ago quarter. Plant availability stood at 99.3%, while grid availability reached 99.2% during the reporting period.
ACME Solar Signs 400 MW FDRE Power Purchase Agreement with NTPC
Separately, ACME Solar announced that it had executed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with NTPC Limited for a 400 MW Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project under NTPC’s FDRE Tranche 01. The agreement specifies a tariff of ₹4.37 per unit.
The PPA was signed through ACME Marigold Urja Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of ACME Solar Holdings. The scheduled commencement of supply date for the project is June 30, 2028.
The FDRE project will integrate renewable energy generation with battery energy storage systems to support reliable electricity supply and dispatch during periods of peak demand. Such projects are designed to address the intermittency of renewable sources and improve the availability of clean power in line with grid requirements.
Renewable Energy and Storage Portfolio Expands
ACME Solar Holdings has a diversified contracted portfolio of 8,370 MW across solar, battery energy storage, FDRE, hybrid and wind power projects. Its operational portfolio includes approximately 3,123 MW of renewable energy capacity and around 5.24 GWh of battery energy storage capacity.
The company’s latest quarterly results reflect the growing contribution of battery storage to its business as it expands beyond conventional renewable power generation. The commissioning of additional BESS capacity and the execution of the FDRE agreement with NTPC further strengthen its presence in India’s evolving renewable energy and energy storage markets.
As demand grows for reliable renewable electricity, battery storage and dispatchable clean energy projects are becoming increasingly important for managing peak loads and supporting grid stability.
