Gujarat Industries Power Company Ltd. (GIPCL) has announced the successful operationalisation of the full 600 MW capacity of its solar power project located within the 2,375 MW renewable energy park at Khavda, Gujarat.
Confirming the development, “the company has commissioned the fifth and final phase of 135 MW of its 600 MW solar power project,” GIPCL said in a regulatory filing. With this milestone, “the entire 600 MW solar project at Khavda is now fully operational,” the company stated.
GIPCL explained that “the first, second and third phases of 105 MW each were commissioned in June, September and October 2025, respectively,” while “the fourth phase of 150 MW was commissioned in November 2025,” according to the filing.
Following the commissioning of the final phase, “GIPCL’s total installed solar power capacity has increased to 8,157 MW,” the company said.
Highlighting its broader renewable portfolio, GIPCL noted that “a 75 MW Vastan Group captive solar power plant was commissioned in May 2025 on reclaimed land at the Vastan Mine in Taluka Vastan, Surat district.” The company added that “a 100 MW solar project at Raghanesda Solar Park was commissioned in 2021,” while “75 MW and 80 MW solar projects at Gujarat Solar Park, Charanka village in Patan district, were commissioned in 2019 and 2017, respectively.”
In addition to solar assets, “the company has commissioned 112.4 MW of wind power projects in the Saurashtra and Kutch regions of Gujarat,” GIPCL stated, adding that “it also operates 810 MW of thermal power capacity.”
Looking ahead, GIPCL informed that “in August 2025, the Energy and Petrochemicals Department, Government of Gujarat, approved the company’s proposal to set up a 700–750 MW lignite-based power plant at Valia.” The filing further noted that “GUVNL’s Board has granted in-principle approval for procurement of power from GIPCL’s proposed 700 MW lignite-based plant for 25 years, subject to approval from the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC).”
The latest commissioning reinforces GIPCL’s expanding role in India’s renewable energy landscape while maintaining a diversified power generation portfolio.
