GUVNL Awards 450 MW/900 MWh Standalone BESS Tender

Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) has concluded its Phase IX tender for 450 MW/900 MWh of standalone battery energy storage capacity, with the lowest discovered tariff standing at INR 231,989/MW/month.

NLC India Renewables Ltd emerged as the lowest bidder with a tariff of INR 231,989/MW/month for a bid quantity of 275 MW. Sun Drops Energia Ltd followed with a tariff of INR 231,990/MW/month for a bid quantity of 410 MW.

Under Phase IX, GUVNL invited bids for the development of 450 MW/900 MWh of standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) capacity in Gujarat.

The projects will be developed under a build-own-operate (BOO) model and will provide energy storage services to GUVNL on an on-demand basis. The capacity will support state distribution companies (DISCOMs) during both peak and off-peak periods.

The selected developers will establish standalone BESS projects connected to the state grid and make the storage capacity available to GUVNL for charging and discharging as required. The systems will be required to complete two full charge-discharge cycles per day.

GUVNL will enter into Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreements (BESPAs) with the successful bidders. The projects will also be eligible for viability gap funding (VGF) under the Power System Development Fund (PSDF) scheme.
