Hero MotoCorp Appoints Srihari Mulgund to Drive Future Strategy

Hero MotoCorp has appointed Srihari Mulgund as its Chief Strategy Officer, effective August 17, 2026. The appointment comes as the company continues to strengthen its focus on electric mobility, battery technologies, new-age mobility and long-term business strategy.

Mulgund brings more than 24 years of experience spanning engineering, product development, strategic planning and the global automotive industry. His professional career has included extensive exposure to automotive markets in the United States, Japan, China and India, giving him experience across different technology and business environments.

Before joining Hero MotoCorp, Mulgund was a Partner at EY-Parthenon, where he worked on strategic engagements covering electric vehicles, battery technologies, internal combustion engine (ICE) platforms, supply chains and emerging mobility businesses.

His earlier career includes leadership and technical positions at Aisin AW and FEV Inc. He also served as President of Ricardo Strategic Consulting in India, where he was involved in strategic advisory and automotive consulting activities.

Mulgund has developed expertise across several areas that are increasingly important to the transformation of the automotive sector, particularly electrification and energy storage. His work has covered topics including battery swapping, software-defined vehicles, alternative battery chemistries and hydrogen-powered ICE technologies.

Key areas of experience include:

  • Electric vehicle and battery strategies
  • Battery swapping and alternative battery technologies
  • Software-defined vehicles
  • Automotive supply chains
  • New-age mobility solutions
  • Hydrogen ICE technologies
  • Corporate and business strategy

In his new role, Mulgund will contribute to Hero MotoCorp’s strategic planning and help advance the company’s long-term initiatives, including its “House of Strategy” framework.

His appointment comes as the automotive industry undergoes a major shift towards electrification, connected technologies and alternative powertrains. For two-wheeler manufacturers, developments in batteries, charging infrastructure, software and new mobility models are becoming increasingly important to future growth.

Mulgund’s combination of engineering expertise, technology knowledge and strategic consulting experience is expected to support Hero MotoCorp as it evaluates emerging opportunities and responds to changing mobility trends.

The company said his understanding of technology, market dynamics and value creation will be important in shaping and implementing its future strategic priorities.

Mulgund holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Engineering, Mysore. He also earned a Master of Science degree from the University of Toledo and an MBA from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

With his extensive experience across automotive engineering, strategy and emerging technologies, Mulgund joins Hero MotoCorp at a time when the mobility sector is rapidly evolving and battery-powered transportation is becoming an increasingly important part of the industry’s future.
