Hinduja Group Announces ₹2,500 Crore Investment in Tamil Nadu for Clean Energy and Mobility

The Hinduja Group has announced plans to invest ₹2,500 crore in Tamil Nadu across renewable energy, electric mobility, automotive, financial services, energy, battery-charging infrastructure and digital mobility solutions.

As part of the investment commitment, Amit Saharia, Group President – Strategy, Hinduja Group, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Deepak Jacob, IAS, Managing Director and CEO, Guidance Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, Ashok Hinduja, Chairman, Hinduja Group of Companies (India), Dheeraj Hinduja, Chairman, Ashok Leyland, S. Keerthana, Minister for Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce, and senior government officials.

Under the renewable energy component, Hinduja Renewables Energy Private Limited (HREPL) plans to develop more than 200 MW of projects combining solar, wind and battery technologies. The company will seek land and grid connectivity support in key districts, including Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Virudhunagar, Madurai and Coimbatore.

In the electric mobility sector, Ohm Global Mobility Limited will operationalise electric buses for public transportation in Tamil Nadu and expand its mobility solutions value chain.

Beyond renewable energy and electric mobility, the Hinduja Group will explore additional opportunities in automotive, financial services, energy, battery-charging infrastructure and digital mobility solutions, further strengthening its presence in Tamil Nadu.

The investment is expected to support the state’s clean-energy and sustainable-mobility ambitions while creating opportunities for the development of related infrastructure and services.

“Our ₹2,500 crore commitment is a statement of our confidence in Tamil Nadu and our desire to participate in its next phase of growth. With its strong industrial base, talent and renewable energy potential, Tamil Nadu is well positioned to lead India’s energy and mobility transition,” Ashok Hinduja, Chairman, Hinduja Group of Companies (India), said.

“We look forward to building on our long-standing association with the state and working with the Government of Tamil Nadu to create lasting value through investments in clean energy, electric mobility and other emerging opportunities,” he added.
