Hitachi Energy’s BESS qualifies as NVIDIA DSX Ready BESS

Hitachi Energy’s battery energy storage system (BESS) has qualified as a NVIDIA DSX Ready BESS, supporting the infrastructure requirements outlined for AI factories. The qualification comes as part of the inaugural DSX Ready launch and confirms that the BESS meets applicable reference design requirements for AI factory power infrastructure.

The NVIDIA DSX Ready program is designed to help customers identify qualified infrastructure components and assess BESS solutions for building resilient, reliable, and scalable power systems. As AI workloads drive growing electricity demand across data centers and digital infrastructure, energy storage is playing an increasingly important role in providing the flexibility and power resilience required for these facilities.

AI factories, the facilities that power the training and deployment of advanced AI models, are driving electricity demand while placing increasingly complex requirements on power systems. As these facilities grow in size and computing capacity, data center operators need energy infrastructure that can respond quickly to fluctuations in demand while maintaining continuous operations.

Beyond storing energy, Hitachi Energy’s BESS serves as a flexible energy platform, supporting power continuity, power quality and operational flexibility while helping facilities respond to changing load conditions and applicable grid requirements. By rapidly absorbing or supplying power, the system supports demand response, energy cost optimization and the stabilization of dynamic AI workloads. These capabilities help data centers integrate renewable power, support grid code compliance and operate more effectively within available grid capacity.

A core aspect of the NVIDIA DSX Ready program is ensuring compatibility with the NVIDIA DSX reference architecture, which helps standardize the design of power infrastructure for AI factories. The program enables customers to identify qualified technologies that can simplify deployment planning and support reliable operations across interconnected systems, including power, cooling, monitoring, and facilities management.

“As AI factories continue to scale, customers need power systems that can be deployed, integrated, and expanded quickly while maintaining reliability and resilience. As one of the first qualified BESS solutions in the NVIDIA DSX Ready program, this recognition reinforces Hitachi Energy’s position at the forefront of AI factory electrification combining advanced technologies, power quality solutions and systems expertise to support end-to-end power infrastructure for the next generation of AI applications.” Marco Berardi, Head of Grid & Power Quality Solutions and Service at Hitachi Energy

Hitachi Energy’s qualified solution combines energy storage, power conversion, automation, and digital technologies in an integrated architecture designed to support the dynamic energy requirements of AI-driven operations. The qualification encompasses Hitachi Energy’s power converters and industry-leading power plant control capabilities that provide the responsive and reliable power conversion needed for next-generation AI data centers.

By enabling precise power balancing, grid support, and energy optimization, the solution helps align BESS deployments with the performance, efficiency, and reliability objectives of the NVIDIA DSX Platform while seamlessly connecting energy storage systems with data center electrical infrastructure.

The NVIDIA DSX AI Factory Platform brings together compute, networking, power, cooling, facilities and software to support AI factory design and operations. The DSX Ready program helps customers identify qualified power and cooling solutions that meet applicable NVIDIA DSX reference design requirements.

The achievement reflects a broader trend across industries: as digitalization accelerates and AI adoption expands, energy infrastructure is becoming a critical enabler of innovation. Technologies such as Hitachi Energy’s BESS, alongside advances in grid infrastructure and digital solutions, will play an increasingly important role in ensuring that the growth of AI is supported by reliable, resilient, and sustainable power systems.
