HVR Solar has signed a series of global Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to establish a proposed 1.2 GW TOPCon solar cell manufacturing facility in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh. The development marks the company’s entry into solar cell manufacturing and a major expansion across the solar value chain.
The agreements were signed during the SNEC PV Power Expo 2026 in Shanghai, where the company partnered with international technology providers and solution partners. These collaborations will support equipment supply, utility systems, and production line integration for the upcoming facility.
The proposed plant is expected to strengthen HVR Solar’s domestic manufacturing presence at a time when India is pushing for greater self-reliance in the renewable energy sector. The facility will focus on producing TOPCon solar cells, a high-efficiency technology that is increasingly being adopted globally due to its superior performance compared to conventional solar cell technologies.
As part of the project, HVR Solar has also partnered with Indygreen Technologies, which will act as a technology facilitator. The collaboration is aimed at supporting the design and implementation of the solar cell manufacturing line.
In addition, the company has entered into agreements with global partners for the supply of advanced manufacturing equipment, development of utility infrastructure, and integration of production systems. These steps are intended to ensure efficient setup and operation of the facility.
The project aligns with India’s broader push to expand domestic solar manufacturing capacity under policy frameworks such as domestic content requirements and the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM). Several industry players are increasingly moving toward backward integration by entering solar cell production to secure supply chains and reduce import dependence.
HVR Solar stated that the proposed 1.2 GW TOPCon solar cell unit will help strengthen India’s renewable energy ecosystem, reduce reliance on imported solar cells, and support the country’s clean energy goals. The project is also expected to generate more than 500 local jobs once operational.
With this investment, HVR Solar aims to strengthen its position in India’s fast-growing solar manufacturing sector and contribute to the country’s transition toward a more self-reliant and sustainable energy future.
