Day 2 of the India AI Impact Summit 2026 spotlighted the energy sector, with discussions and demonstrations highlighting how artificial intelligence is transforming power markets and digital infrastructure. The global summit, which commenced in the national capital with world leaders in attendance, has placed critical issues such as job disruption and child safety high on the agenda. Prime Minister Narendra Modi formally inaugurated the five-day event, which aims to declare a “shared roadmap for global AI governance and collaboration”.
The summit serves as a comprehensive platform bringing together global technology companies, startups, academia, research institutions, Union Ministries, state governments, and international stakeholders. Organisers have projected attendance of over 2.5 lakh visitors, including international delegates.
The Expo part has 13 country pavilions, which show how countries can work together in the AI ecosystem. Pavilions from Australia, Japan, Russia, the UK, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Serbia, Estonia, Tajikistan, and Africa are all taking part, showing that many countries are involved.
During his visit to the MeitY Pavilion, the Prime Minister reviewed the #IndiaEnergyStack showcase. Shashank Misra, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Power, along with Prince Dhawan, Executive Director of REC Limited, presented a live demonstration of an interstate peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading transaction. The real-time transaction was executed seamlessly with the assistance of an AI agent operating through a WhatsApp interface.
The demonstration showed how AI-enabled systems can be used to make digital energy transactions across state lines, which shows how artificial intelligence is becoming a part of India’s changing power sector framework.
Prime Minister Modi also interacted with Shri Arun Kumar, a farmer from Uttar Pradesh, who has benefited from selling surplus electricity generated from his solar rooftop installation under the PM Suryaghar Yojana. The interaction underscored the role of decentralised renewable energy generation and digital platforms in enhancing income opportunities for individual consumers.
The five-day summit is expected to advance discussions on responsible AI deployment, regulatory collaboration, and cross-border innovation.
