On the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2026, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, met with Said Mohammed Ahmed Al Saqri, Economic Advisor at Oman’s Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, to discuss joint collaboration in the renewable energy sector. The discussions focused on enhancing manufacturing, export, and investment opportunities for solar modules, electrolysers, and green hydrogen.
Focus on India-Oman Renewable Cooperation
In a statement posted on X, Minister Joshi highlighted the productive nature of the engagement, stating,
“Had a productive meeting with H.E. Dr Said Mohammed Ahmed Al Saqri… on deepening India-Oman cooperation in Renewable Energy. Highlighted India’s proven ability to scale renewables, solar, wind, green hydrogen, and energy storage even in arid and desert conditions, offering strong opportunities for global investors.”
The dialogue included opportunities for joint collaboration on solar module manufacturing, electrolyser production, and green hydrogen exports. Both sides discussed promoting investments in India through renewable-powered hydrogen hubs, integrated energy projects, and port-based export infrastructure. They also explored leveraging the India-Oman CEPA, Joint Investment Fund, and cooperation under the International Solar Alliance (ISA) to unlock benefits from the Global Green Energy Grid through OSOWOG, alongside joint participation in upcoming solar and wind tenders and industry-led innovation initiatives.
Engagements with Madhya Pradesh Delegation
Earlier in the day, Minister Joshi met with a delegation from the Madhya Pradesh government at the Davos India Lounge to discuss the state’s renewable energy plans and strategic focus. During this meeting, he engaged with Rakesh Shukla, Madhya Pradesh’s New and Renewable Energy Minister, reaffirming India’s commitment to strengthening clean energy initiatives at both national and state levels.
WEF 2026 Overview
The 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum, held under the theme “A Spirit of Dialogue”, aims to address geopolitical tensions and economic uncertainty. The event in Davos features record participation from government representatives, including approximately 400 political leaders and 65 heads of state, alongside CEOs, innovators, and policymakers from around the world.
This engagement highlights India’s proactive approach to fostering international collaboration in renewable energy, supporting investment in clean technology, and positioning India as a global leader in solar, wind, green hydrogen, and energy storage.
