Indofast Energy Partners with Zeon Charging to Expand Battery Swapping Network Across South India

Indofast Energy has entered into a strategic partnership with Zeon Charging to accelerate the deployment of battery-swapping infrastructure across South India. The collaboration aims to expand access to quick battery-swapping services at premium, high-footfall locations, supporting the growing adoption of electric mobility in the region.

Under the agreement, Indofast Energy will install its Quick Interchange Stations (QIS) at Zeon Charging’s network of sites, including premium shopping malls, metro parking facilities, and commercial hubs across Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, and other major cities in South India. The initiative is designed to provide convenient energy access for commercial EV users and delivery riders operating in busy urban corridors.

The partnership has already begun with the deployment of six Quick Interchange Stations across two locations in Bengaluru, including Orion Mall. Both companies have confirmed plans to further expand the battery-swapping infrastructure at Orion Mall as part of the next phase of the collaboration.

Key highlights of the partnership include:

  • Battery-swapping stations at premium malls and metro parking facilities.
  • Initial deployment of 6 Quick Interchange Stations (QIS) in Bengaluru.
  • Expansion planned across Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai and other southern cities.
  • Focus on commercial EV fleets and last-mile delivery vehicles.

Commenting on the partnership, Subhash Bhat, Interim CEO of Indofast Energy, said the collaboration with Zeon Charging will bring battery swapping to highly accessible, high-visibility locations where EV users require reliable and seamless energy access. He added that the partnership enables the company to expand into strategically positioned, power-ready sites that can support rapid network growth.

According to the company, leveraging Zeon’s portfolio of premium locations provides access to established electrical infrastructure and high customer footfall, allowing commercial EV operators to complete battery swaps in approximately two minutes without disrupting daily operations.

South India already represents a significant market for Indofast Energy, with the company operating more than 450 battery-swapping stations in Bengaluru alone. Nationwide, Indofast’s network includes over 1,900 swap stations across 24 cities, supporting more than 120,000 electric vehicles.

Akhil Venkateshwaran, CTO and Director of Zeon Charging, said the deployment at strategic locations such as Orion Mall demonstrates the effectiveness of integrating battery-swapping infrastructure into premium retail and transit destinations. He added that the company plans to rapidly scale the partnership across its charging network.

The collaboration reflects the growing trend of integrating battery-swapping infrastructure with existing EV charging ecosystems to improve convenience, reduce vehicle downtime, and support the expansion of electric mobility across India’s urban transportation landscape.
