Chinese solar manufacturer JinkoSolar is increasing its focus on international markets as overseas demand becomes a key growth driver for the company. More than 80% of its solar module shipments in the first quarter of 2026 were delivered outside China, highlighting the company’s growing dependence on global markets.
JinkoSolar shipped 13.7 GW of solar modules between January and March 2026, with strong demand coming from utility-scale projects, commercial and industrial customers, and residential solar markets across different regions.
The company said overseas markets helped balance challenges in China, where intense competition, falling prices and supply pressure have affected profitability across the solar industry.
Growing Focus on Solar Storage Solutions
Along with solar modules, JinkoSolar is expanding its energy storage business as demand for solar-plus-storage solutions increases worldwide.
The company’s energy storage system (ESS) shipments reached around 1.42 GWh during the quarter, recording strong year-on-year growth. A major portion of these deliveries was made to overseas customers.
JinkoSolar expects its storage shipments to more than double in 2026 as it increases production capacity and strengthens its global supply network.
High-Efficiency Modules Become Key Growth Area
To maintain its competitive position, JinkoSolar is also focusing on advanced solar technologies and higher-efficiency modules.
The company’s Tiger Neo 3.0 series modules are achieving power outputs of around 655-660 watts, while modules with output above 640 watts contributed nearly 25% of total shipments during the quarter.
JinkoSolar said demand for premium solar products is increasing as developers look for improved efficiency and better long-term project performance.
Expanding Global Manufacturing Presence
The company is also strengthening its international manufacturing footprint to support future growth.
JinkoSolar expects its integrated manufacturing capacity to reach nearly 100 GW by the end of 2026, including around 14 GW of overseas production capacity.
The expansion is aimed at helping the company manage changing trade policies, local manufacturing requirements and supply-chain challenges in key markets.
Milestone in Solar Industry
During the quarter, JinkoSolar became the first solar module manufacturer globally to cross 400 GW in cumulative module shipments.
Its Tiger Neo product family has contributed around 240 GW of cumulative deliveries, supporting the company’s position as one of the largest solar manufacturers worldwide.
The company reported first-quarter revenue of RMB 12.25 billion, while gross margin improved to 8.3% as module prices stabilised and sales of higher-value products increased.
With stronger overseas demand, rising energy storage adoption and continued investment in manufacturing capacity, JinkoSolar is positioning itself for further expansion in the global renewable energy market.
