LG Energy Solution has signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Energix-Renewable Energies Ltd. to strengthen their strategic collaboration on battery energy storage system (BESS) projects across Europe and the United States.
Under the MoU, the companies will explore the potential supply of approximately 1.5 GWh of BESS solutions in Europe and 0.5 GWh in the U.S. over the next 24 months. The companies will also discuss expanding the overall supply volume to approximately 4.5 GWh, comprising 3 GWh in Europe and 1.5 GWh in North America, through LG Energy Solution’s operations in Europe and the U.S.
Energix is a global renewable energy company that develops, owns, and operates renewable energy and energy storage projects, with a a long term growth strategy targeting a global portfolio of more than 8 GW.
Through this partnership, LG Energy Solution and Energix plan to conduct regular reviews and evaluate additional opportunities within Energix’s renewable energy project pipeline. The collaboration is expected to support the integration of renewable generation and energy storage, enhancing grid flexibility and the reliable delivery of clean energy in key markets.
The agreement also builds on the companies’ prior collaboration in Europe. LG Energy Solution previously supplied battery solutions for Energix’s Nowe Czarnowo project in Poland. The companies are also discussing potential collaboration on Energix’s Jonava project in Lithuania, which is a hybrid renewable energy project involving approximately 320 MWh of ESS capacity and is targeted to begin commercial operations in 2027.
The partnership marks a significant opportunity for LG Energy to expand its participation in large-scale ESS projects in Europe. Building on recent progress in North America, particularly in ESS projects linked to power grids and renewable energy, LG Energy Solution plans to expand its business footprint in Europe and further strengthen its global ESS business foundation through the agreement.
“Through our collaboration with Energix, we will expand ESS business opportunities in Europe and North America and further strengthen our global customer base,” said 1 Changbeom Kang, ESS Battery Division Leader of LG Energy Solution. “Leveraging our differentiated technology and local manufacturing capabilities, we will accelerate the growth of our global ESS business.”
“This agreement marks an important step in strengthening our long-term relationship with LG Energy Solution,” said Asa Levinger, CEO of Energix group. “We look forward to exploring opportunities to deploy high-quality energy storage solutions across our project pipeline and accelerate the expansion of renewable energy in our core markets.”
