Bondada Engineering has secured an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) order from Gujarat Industries Power Company Limited (GIPCL) to develop a 20 MW/120 MWh vanadium redox flow battery energy storage system (BESS) at GIPCL’s 165 MW natural gas power plant site in Vadodara, Gujarat.
The project includes 10 years of operation and maintenance (O&M) services and is scheduled for completion within 18 months from the receipt of the Notice of Award (NOA).
Project Details
The proposed BESS will use vanadium redox flow battery technology, which stores energy through liquid electrolytes. The system will have a power capacity of 20 MW and an energy storage capacity of 120 MWh, equivalent to six hours of storage at full rated power.
The project adds to the deployment of alternative battery technologies in India’s energy storage sector, where solutions are being developed to support grid flexibility and the integration of renewable energy.
Under the contract, Bondada Engineering will undertake EPC activities and provide O&M services for 10 years, covering the project’s long-term operational requirements.
