Neuron Energy, a leading EV battery manufacturer delivering advanced lithium-ion solutions for electric mobility, has announced its entry into the grid-scale energy storage segment with the commissioning of a fully automated Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) manufacturing facility in Talegaon, Maharashtra.
This strategic investment shows that the company is moving beyond mobility into large-scale energy storage. This puts it in a good position to play a key role in India’s transition to renewable energy.
The facility is being built on 7 acres and will cost ₹100 crore. It will be a robotic, automated factory for containerised energy storage systems. When it is fully up and running, the facility will be able to make 5 GWh of power each year and up to 1,000 containerised BESS units.
These modular systems are designed for deployment across solar and grid infrastructure, enabling efficient storage of surplus energy generated during peak production periods and its dispatch during demand peaks.
Commenting on the announcement, Pratik Kamdar, Co-founder & CEO, Neuron Energy, said:
“Our entry into the grid-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems segment is a natural extension of our journey in advanced energy solutions. As renewable energy adoption accelerates in India, reliable and scalable storage infrastructure will become critical to strengthening the power ecosystem. Our upcoming BESS facility in Talegaon reflects this vision enabling us to build high-performance, large-format energy storage solutions for both domestic and global markets.”
In addition to its large manufacturing capacity, the facility is expected to create more than 500 jobs directly and indirectly in areas such as engineering, manufacturing operations, system integration, installation, and technical services.
Neuron Energy’s go-to-market strategy will focus on solar developers, Commercial & Industrial (C&I) customers, and utilities, with a targeted business mix of 60% domestic and 40% export markets.
The company also plans to add more energy storage products to its portfolio, which will strengthen its position in the larger energy ecosystem. It will do this by using its existing knowledge of batteries and its ability to make them.
The BESS Talegaon facility is a big step forward for Neuron Energy, which has gone from being a battery maker focused on mobility to a company that offers integrated energy solutions that fit with India’s clean energy goals.
