NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a subsidiary of NTPC Ltd, has announced the start of commercial operations for 150 MW of solar capacity from its 300 MW project in Rajasthan. This is another step forward in its efforts to expand its renewable energy business.
According to a regulatory filing, the commissioned capacity will become operational from April 18, 2026. The project is being developed by Project Sixteen Renewable Power Private Limited, a step-down subsidiary of ONGC NTPC Green Private Limited, the joint venture between NTPC Green Energy and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC).
Capacity addition strengthens renewable portfolio
The addition of 150 MW is part of NGEL’s broader strategy to scale up its renewable energy capacity. Before this change, the company’s total installed capacity was 10,126.40 MW. The most recent commissioning brought the total capacity up to 10,276.40 MW, which strengthens its position in India’s clean energy sector.
This milestone comes shortly after the company crossed the symbolic 10 GW installed capacity mark, highlighting its continued growth trajectory.
