Oriana Power Ltd. has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Maharashtra to invest approximately ₹4,500 crore in developing an integrated green hydrogen project in the state, marking a significant step in expanding India’s green fuels ecosystem. The proposed project will encompass the production of green hydrogen along with downstream products such as green ammonia and green methanol, reinforcing the company’s long-term commitment to the National Green Hydrogen Mission.
The investment will be implemented in accordance with Maharashtra’s industrial and renewable energy policies within a defined project timeline. Under the agreement, the state government will facilitate the project by assisting Oriana Power in securing the necessary approvals, statutory clearances, registrations and permissions from relevant authorities. The company will also be eligible to avail applicable fiscal incentives under existing state policies, enabling timely project execution.
The integrated facility is expected to strengthen Maharashtra’s emerging green energy ecosystem while supporting India’s transition towards low-carbon fuels. By establishing capabilities across the green hydrogen value chain—from hydrogen production to value-added derivatives such as green ammonia and green methanol—the project is expected to contribute to decarbonisation across industrial sectors and reduce dependence on fossil-based feedstocks.
The announcement builds on Oriana Power’s recent progress in the green hydrogen sector. Earlier this year, TrueRE Oriana Power entered into a long-term Green Ammonia Purchase Agreement (GAPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for the annual supply of 60,000 tonnes of green ammonia under the National Green Hydrogen Mission. The agreement was awarded at a discovered price of ₹52.25 per kilogram, providing the company with long-term demand visibility for its green fuel portfolio.
With the proposed ₹4,500-crore investment, Oriana Power is significantly expanding its footprint in India’s clean hydrogen economy. The project is expected to enhance domestic production of green hydrogen and its derivatives while supporting industrial decarbonisation, attracting investments into Maharashtra’s renewable energy sector, and advancing the country’s ambition of becoming a global hub for green hydrogen production.
The Oriana Power green hydrogen project reflects the company’s strategic focus on building an integrated green fuels value chain. Backed by government support and long-term market opportunities, the investment is expected to strengthen domestic green hydrogen production, accelerate industrial decarbonisation, and contribute to India’s emerging clean energy economy.
