Pace Digitek Launches Advanced Battery R&D Centre in Pune

Pace Digitek Limited announced that its subsidiary, Lineage Power Private Limited (LPPL), has established the Pace-Lineage Research Centre in Pune, a dedicated Research & Development (R&D) centre to strengthen its research, engineering, and product development capabilities in advanced battery technologies, including Advanced Chemistry Cells (ACC) and energy storage solutions.

Aligned with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India, the centre aims to contribute to the development of indigenous technologies and strengthen domestic capabilities in energy storage. As part of this initiative, Lineage Power has entered into a research collaboration with the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune, to undertake research on advanced battery technologies and battery materials.

The research programme at the Pace-Lineage Research Center will focus on Advanced Chemistry Cells (ACC), including lithium-ion (Li-ion) and sodium-ion (Na-ion) battery materials to improve battery capacity and cycling stability.

The research will include optimization of material coatings, tuning of material microstructure and porosity, design of new electrolytes, detailed material characterisation, electrochemical evaluation, and optimization of cell parameters. The centre will also evaluate and validate raw materials from domestic suppliers to support indigenous technology development and strengthen the local supply chain.

The establishment of the R&D facility reflects Pace Digitek’s long-term strategy to expand its research and engineering capabilities in Advanced Chemistry Cells (ACC) technologies and advanced battery systems. By investing in scientific research, the company aims to accelerate technology development, build in-house expertise and support innovation across the energy storage value chain.

India’s energy storage market is expected to witness significant growth, driven by increasing renewable energy integration, grid modernization and the growing need for reliable energy storage solutions. Against this backdrop, the R&D Center complements Pace Digitek’s manufacturing, engineering, and project execution capabilities by supporting research in advanced battery materials and technologies.

Commenting on the development, Mr. Venugopal Rao Maddisetty, Chairman & Managing Director, Pace Digitek Limited, said: “Technology and innovation will play a defining role in the future of energy storage. The establishment of our dedicated R&D centre marks an important step in strengthening our research and engineering capabilities. Our collaboration with IISER Pune brings together scientific research and industry expertise to advance battery materials and support indigenous technology development. We believe this initiative will strengthen our innovation capabilities and create longterm value for our stakeholders.”

Pace Digitek Limited is an integrated infrastructure and energy solutions company in India, operating across two business segments: Energy and Telecom & ICT. The company operates across the value chain, spanning manufacturing, engineering, procurement and construction (EPC), and operations and maintenance (O&M), enabling both project execution and product supply.

In the energy segment, the company undertakes Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) design, manufacturing, product supply, integration, and deployment. Through its subsidiary, Lineage Power Private Limited, the company manufactures and supplies BESS, telecom power systems, and related energy infrastructure products, supporting both integrated project execution and standalone product supply.

In the telecom segment, the company undertakes the manufacturing of telecom power systems and provides EPC services and O&M for telecom infrastructure and network deployments across multiple circles in India.
