Pace Digitek has been awarded a 250 MWAC solar power project integrated with a 250 MW/1,100 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) by Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL). The project will be developed at the Pavagada Solar Park in Karnataka.
The company confirmed that the project was won at a tariff of ₹5.51 per unit. The total project cost is approximately ₹17,750 million (including GST).
According to the company’s regulatory filing, the project will be executed in its home state of Karnataka. The plant is expected to be completed within 18 months from the signing of the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) and the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) agreement.
Pace Digitek stated that the project will have an operational life of 25 years from the date of commissioning, as per the terms and conditions outlined in the Request for Selection (RfS) and the PPA.
About the Tender
KREDL had floated the tender in May 2025 under Tranche I for setting up a 250 MW solar-plus-BESS project at Ryapte in Pavagada. The bidding process concluded after nine months.
The project will be developed under a Build-Own-Operate (BOO) model. It is aimed at supplying peak power and improving grid utilisation at the Pavagada Solar Park.
The developer will set up both the solar plant and the energy storage system under a tariff-based competitive bidding process.
Under the tender conditions, KREDL will provide up to 1,000 acres of land on lease through a Land Sub-Lease Agreement for setting up the solar and BESS components.
The Renewable Power Developer (RPD) is required to store at least 80% of its annual gross solar generation in the BESS, equivalent to 1,100 MWh. The stored power is expected to be discharged mainly during peak demand hours between 16:00 and 22:00 hrs, or 05:00 and 08:00 hrs, depending on grid availability.
The project is expected to strengthen peak power supply and enhance grid efficiency in Karnataka.
