RECPDCL

REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL) has announced the successful bidder for the development of a 400/132 kV substation project, marking another step towards strengthening India’s power transmission network.

The project is part of RECPDCL’s ongoing efforts to enhance grid infrastructure, improve electricity reliability, and support the growing power demand across the country. The upcoming transmission system is expected to play a key role in improving power evacuation capacity and ensuring smoother electricity flow between generation and consumption centres.

Under the project, the selected developer will be responsible for the development of the transmission infrastructure, including engineering, procurement, construction, financing, testing, and commissioning of the 400/132 kV substation. The developer will also undertake operation and maintenance activities as part of the project agreement.

The transmission project will be implemented under the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) framework, which allows private sector participation in the development of critical power infrastructure.

Supporting Renewable Energy Integration

The expansion of transmission infrastructure has become increasingly important as India continues to add large-scale renewable energy capacity. Strong transmission networks are required to efficiently transfer electricity generated from renewable energy projects, particularly solar and wind projects, to demand centres.

The 400 kV-level infrastructure will help improve grid stability and provide additional capacity for future power requirements. It will also support the integration of renewable energy into the national electricity network by reducing transmission bottlenecks.

RECPDCL’s Role in Power Infrastructure Development

RECPDCL, a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited, has been actively involved in facilitating transmission projects across India. The company works on identifying, developing and implementing transmission schemes through competitive bidding routes.

Through such projects, RECPDCL aims to support the government’s broader vision of creating a stronger and more reliable electricity grid capable of meeting future energy needs.

India’s power sector is undergoing rapid transformation, with increasing investments in renewable energy, electrification and energy infrastructure. As power generation capacity expands, strengthening transmission and distribution networks has become a key priority.

The development of new substations and associated transmission systems will help improve grid flexibility, reduce congestion and ensure efficient power delivery.

Strengthening India’s Energy Network

The 400/132 kV substation project is expected to contribute to improving regional power infrastructure and enhancing the overall reliability of electricity supply.

With rising electricity consumption and increasing renewable energy deployment, transmission projects such as this will remain critical to India’s clean energy transition and long-term power security goals.

The announcement reflects continued momentum in India’s power infrastructure sector, where public and private sector participation is driving the expansion of a modern and resilient electricity network.
