Climate Policy Initiative (CPI) has appointed Saarthak Khurana as Associate Director, based in Delhi, marking a key addition to CPI India’s leadership team. In his expanded role, Khurana will support CPI’s work across energy transition, climate finance, clean mobility, and industrial decarbonisation, further strengthening the organisation’s contribution to India’s low-carbon and sustainable development agenda.
At Climate Policy Initiative, Saarthak Khurana will be at the forefront of promoting evidence-based research and strategic advisory work. His role will involve supporting policymakers, regulators, and other stakeholders in developing effective solutions that are in line with the climate and energy transition objectives of India.
Strengthening CPI India’s Leadership
An experienced energy sector professional, Khurana has grown through multiple leadership roles within CPI. Prior to this appointment, he served as Senior Manager and Manager – Energy Transition (Climate Finance), where he led multidisciplinary teams working on complex policy and financing challenges. In these roles, he collaborated closely with government bodies, regulators, and international financial institutions to support climate-aligned investments and policy frameworks.
His appointment reflects CPI’s continued focus on building strong in-house leadership to address the evolving needs of India’s clean energy and climate finance ecosystem.
Diverse Experience Across Industry and Consulting
Khurana had a lot of useful experience in the industry and as a consultant before joining Climate Policy Initiative. He worked for KPMG India, where he did consulting work in the energy sector, and before that, he worked for TATA Power, where he helped with strategy and corporate planning projects. His experience in consulting, industry, and research has given him a practical and well-rounded view on policy analysis and advisory work.
