SAEL Industries has announced the commencement of operations of its 600 MW solar power plant in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, marking a significant milestone in its renewable energy expansion. The project, spread across more than 2,400 acres, consists of two units of 300 MW each, developed through its subsidiaries SAEL Solar MHP1 Pvt Ltd and SAEL Solar MHP2 Pvt Ltd.
The solar power plant will send clean electricity straight to the national grid. This will help India reach its decarbonisation goals and increase its capacity for renewable energy.
Long-Term PPA Ensures Revenue Stability
To secure long-term financial viability, SAEL has signed a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). This agreement ensures stable revenue streams while facilitating large-scale clean energy deployment.
The project is expected to play a key role in reducing carbon emissions, with an estimated mitigation of approximately 11 lakh tonnes of CO₂ annually. This reinforces SAEL’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions and climate action.
Advanced Technology and Domestic Manufacturing
The Kurnool solar project uses the latest TOPCon bifacial solar modules, with more than 12 lakh units installed throughout the site. SAEL made these modules in Punjab and Rajasthan, which shows that the company is focused on making things in India and integrating its supply chain.
The use of bifacial technology is expected to enhance energy generation efficiency by capturing sunlight from both sides of the panels, thereby maximising output.
Execution Amid Challenging Conditions
Commenting on the project, Laxit Awla, CEO & Executive Director, SAEL Industries, said, “Kurnool’s terrain tested our execution capabilities in Andhra Pradesh. Despite weather conditions, our teams delivered these 600 MW projects, reflecting our team’s focused approach and planning.”
His statement highlights the problems that come up when running a project and the company’s ability to build large-scale infrastructure even when conditions are tough.
Expanding Renewable Energy Portfolio
The Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh project is the next step for SAEL after it successfully launched a 1 GWp solar project in Khavda, Gujarat, in January 2026. With this new addition, the company’s total operational renewable energy capacity is now over 2.5 GWp.
The most recent event strengthens SAEL’s position as a major player in India’s renewable energy sector and helps the country move toward a cleaner and more sustainable power ecosystem.
