Shakti Pumps (India) Limited has infused ₹3 crore into its wholly owned subsidiary, Shakti Energy Solutions Limited, as part of its plan to establish a greenfield high-efficiency Solar Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) cell and solar photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturing facility in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh, the company said in a regulatory filing.
The investment is aimed at setting up a manufacturing plant with a proposed production capacity of 2.20 GW. According to the filing, the latest capital infusion will be utilised towards preliminary expenses related to the project, while substantial investments for plant and machinery, infrastructure, and other capital expenditures are expected to be undertaken in subsequent phases.
This move marks a significant step in Shakti Pumps’ strategic diversification into solar cell and module manufacturing, expanding beyond its existing presence in solar structures and rooftop solar manufacturing. The initiative is aligned with the company’s long-term vision of strengthening backward integration and gaining greater control over its renewable energy value chain.
Shakti Energy Solutions Limited, which will oversee the execution of the manufacturing project, was incorporated on September 6, 2010. The subsidiary has demonstrated steady growth in recent years, reporting a turnover of ₹216.53 crore in the financial year (FY) 2024–25, compared to ₹139.59 crore in FY 2023–24 and ₹99.15 crore in FY 2022–23.
In 2025, Shakti Pumps had earlier announced plans to invest a total of ₹12 crore in its solar manufacturing arm to support the development of the proposed DCR cell and PV module facility. The recent ₹3 crore investment represents the initial phase of this planned capital deployment, signalling the formal commencement of the project.
Shakti Pumps (India) is primarily engaged in the manufacturing of submersible pumps and motors catering to a wide range of applications, including agriculture, domestic water supply, and industrial use. The company’s diversification into solar manufacturing is expected to complement its core business while supporting India’s broader renewable energy and domestic manufacturing goals.
Separately, Shakti Pumps has continued to strengthen its order book in the renewable energy segment. Earlier in 2026, the company secured a work order from the Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency (HAREDA) for the supply and installation of 792 Solar Water Pumping Systems (SWPS) across Haryana. The order was awarded under Component-B of the PM-KUSUM scheme and carries a total value of approximately ₹23.54 crore, inclusive of GST. The project is scheduled to be executed within 90 days.
With the establishment of the solar DCR cell and module manufacturing plant, Shakti Pumps aims to enhance its manufacturing capabilities, deepen its renewable energy footprint, and support domestic solar value-chain development while continuing to expand its presence in government-backed clean energy initiatives.
