Solidion Technology Inc. has expanded its intellectual property portfolio with the grant of seven new US patents covering composite silicon anode materials for lithium batteries, reinforcing its focus on next-generation battery technologies for electric vehicles, artificial intelligence infrastructure, robotics, and aerospace applications.
With the latest additions, the company’s portfolio now includes 130 US patents dedicated to lithium battery anode materials, while its overall global portfolio exceeds 385 patents spanning battery materials and advanced energy storage technologies.
The newly patented silicon anode technology is designed to deliver higher energy density, lower production costs, and improved battery performance across multiple applications. According to the company, the technology can extend the operational time of humanoid robots on a single charge, increase the flight range of drones and unmanned aerial vehicles, provide longer backup power for AI data centres on Earth and in space, and improve the driving range of electric vehicles through higher energy density batteries.
Solidion said its innovation addresses several limitations associated with conventional silicon anode manufacturing. Existing technologies typically rely on chemical vapor deposition (CVD) using silane gas, a feedstock that is expensive, highly flammable, difficult to transport, and in limited supply across North America. In addition, conventional porous carbon materials generally accommodate only up to 50% silicon, restricting battery energy density.
The company’s patented approach replaces the traditional process with a silane-free manufacturing method, making production safer, faster, and more cost-effective. It also uses specially engineered porous graphene structures capable of accommodating up to 90% silicon within graphene-silicon composites, significantly increasing energy density compared to conventional anode materials.
Another key advantage of the technology is its reliance on domestically sourced raw materials. The graphene used in the anodes is produced from biomass by Solidion’s affiliated company, Global Graphene Group, helping reduce dependence on imported feedstocks and strengthening supply chain resilience.
Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, with pilot production facilities in Dayton, Ohio, Solidion Technology develops advanced battery materials and high-performance batteries for applications including energy storage systems, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) solutions for AI data centres, electric vehicles, and aerospace.
The latest patent awards further strengthen Solidion Technology’s position in the advanced battery materials segment as demand grows for high-energy-density, cost-efficient, and domestically manufactured battery components. The company’s continued focus on silicon anode innovation is expected to support the development of next-generation lithium batteries for emerging sectors such as AI infrastructure, advanced robotics, electric mobility, and future space-based applications.
