Sunsure Energy has commissioned a 105 MWp solar power project in Mahoba district, Uttar Pradesh, marking a key milestone in the state’s renewable energy infrastructure development. The project is the first to evacuate green power through Uttar Pradesh’s Green Energy Corridor-II (GEC-II) network and was completed within four months of signing the power purchase agreement.

Located in Kabrai village, the solar facility spans approximately 282 acres and is connected to the grid through a dedicated 7-kilometre, 132 kV transmission line. The project is expected to generate over 167 million units of clean electricity annually, enough to power around 140,000 households while reducing carbon emissions by nearly 120,000 tonnes each year.

The commissioning represents the first operational use of the Green Energy Corridor-II infrastructure being developed by Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation Limited (UPPTCL). The transmission network is designed to facilitate the evacuation of nearly 4 GW of renewable energy from the Bundelkhand region and is backed by investments of about ₹5,400 crore.

According to the company, the project strengthens Uttar Pradesh’s clean energy ambitions and supports the growing demand for sustainable power among industrial and commercial consumers. The facility will contribute to the state’s efforts to expand renewable energy capacity while improving grid connectivity for large-scale solar projects.

With the addition of the Mahoba plant, Sunsure Energy’s operational capacity in Uttar Pradesh has increased to 365 MWp across 11 renewable energy projects. The company is targeting 500 MW of installed capacity in the state under its UP Shakti initiative and is also developing a 125 MW/500 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project to enhance round-the-clock renewable power availability.

Sunsure Energy currently supplies renewable electricity to customers across multiple sectors, including manufacturing, electronics, consumer goods, metals and water processing. The company has an operational renewable energy portfolio of around 800 MW and a development pipeline exceeding 7 GW across India.
