Tata Motors’ electric vehicle brand Tata.ev has partnered with Hopcharge to introduce on-demand doorstep charging services for electric vehicle owners across the National Capital Region (NCR).
The goal of the project is to give customers who don’t have their own parking space or access to a home charging setup a convenient option. Hopcharge will send mobile fast-charging vans to Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, and Faridabad as part of the partnership.
How the Service Works
A special platform lets customers book a charging van. After being booked, the van goes to the customer’s location and charges the car there. This model is especially helpful for people who own electric vehicles and live in apartments, rented homes, or homes where they can’t or don’t want to install their own charger.
As part of a promotional offer, customers purchasing a Tata.ev vehicle from an authorised dealership will be eligible for complimentary doorstep charging services. Terms and conditions apply, and buyers are advised to contact their nearest dealership for details.
Subscription Plans on Offer
Three subscription plans have been introduced:
- Success 3.3 Plan (12 months): 48 fast-charging sessions at the customer’s doorstep, unlimited rescheduling, and 12 battery RescueCharge sessions of up to 5 kWh per session.
- Success 7.2 Plan (24 months): 96 fast-charging sessions, unlimited rescheduling, and 24 battery RescueCharge sessions of up to 5 kWh per session.
- Experience Plan (6 months): 24 fast-charging sessions and 6 battery RescueCharge sessions of up to 5 kWh per session.
All plans allow customers to charge their vehicles to 100% SOC once a month.
Addressing Charging Gaps
Charging stations are still one of the biggest problems for EV adoption in India, especially in crowded cities. Public charging networks are growing, but many people still can’t easily charge their cars overnight.
Mobile charging services, where “the charger travels to the driver,” are becoming a useful option. They haven’t said how much the partnership will cost or how many vans will be used. It’s also not clear if the service will grow beyond NCR.
