TP Solar Ltd, the solar manufacturing arm of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), has reported a robust manufacturing performance 2.8 GW of solar cells during the first nine months of FY26 (April–December 2025), producing and 2.9 GW of solar modules, the company said.
Of the total module output, 2.4 GW comprised Domestic Content Requirement (DCR)-compliant modules, while the remaining 0.5 GW consisted of Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM)–certified modules, reflecting a balanced focus on domestic and regulated market demand.
Sharp Rise in Q3 FY26 Cell Production
Manufacturing momentum strengthened further in the third quarter of FY26. TP Solar produced 940 MW of solar cells during the quarter, compared with 196 MW in Q3 FY25, registering nearly a fivefold year-on-year increase.
Module production in Q3 FY26 reached 990 MW, up from 927 MW in the corresponding quarter last year, translating into an approximately 7% year-on-year growth, the company stated.
Large-Scale Tirunelveli Facility Anchors Growth
TP Solar operates a state-of-the-art 4.3 GW solar cell and module manufacturing facility located in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, which ranks among the largest single-location solar manufacturing facilities in India.
The plant is equipped with advanced TOPCon and Mono PERC technologies and produces both ALMM-certified modules and DCR modules using domestically manufactured solar cells, strengthening India’s solar value chain.
INR 4,300 Crore Investment Supports Indigenisation
Tata Power, through its subsidiary TPREL, has invested nearly INR 4,300 crore in establishing the Tirunelveli manufacturing facility.
“The investment represents a significant milestone in advancing indigenisation across the solar value chain and reinforces Tata Power’s strategic focus on achieving self-sufficiency in solar cell and module manufacturing,” the company stated.
Inclusive Workforce a Key Differentiator
The Tirunelveli facility is also distinguished by its high level of workforce inclusion, with nearly 80% of employees being women, underlining TP Solar’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable industrial development.
