Trex Energy Launches 261 kWh Liquid-Cooled BESS for Industrial Applications

Trex Energy has commercially launched its REX BESS 125kW/261kWh, a liquid-cooled battery energy storage system designed to support commercial, industrial and utility applications in India and other markets.

The Hyderabad-based energy storage company said the new system combines liquid cooling, an integrated energy management system (EMS) and AC/DC architecture in a single cabinet. The solution is designed to provide scalable energy storage for applications including peak load management, renewable energy integration, backup power, EV charging and grid support.

The REX BESS features a 261 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery with a nominal voltage of 832V and 314Ah cell capacity. The system has a maximum DC voltage of 950V and can deliver up to 125kW of active power. It supports both on-grid and off-grid configurations and is designed to operate in temperatures ranging from -20°C to 55°C.

Trex Energy has incorporated multiple safety and monitoring features into the system. These include aerosol fire suppression, protection against overcharging, over-discharge and short circuits, along with safeguards for thermal events. The liquid-cooling system is designed to maintain battery cells within an optimal temperature range, potentially helping reduce degradation and extend battery life.

“The REX BESS is not just a product — it is our commitment to India’s energy future,” said Roshan Shaik, Technical Director at Trex Energy. “With liquid cooling, aerosol fire suppression, and intelligent cloud monitoring built into a single cabinet, we are giving our customers a system they can trust for decades of reliable operation.”

The integrated EMS features 4G connectivity and a 7-inch HMI touchscreen, enabling real-time system monitoring, remote diagnostics and cloud-based maintenance. The cabinet integrates AC and DC components and can connect with PV systems, the grid, loads and EV charging infrastructure.

For commercial and industrial users, the system can support peak shaving and load shifting by storing electricity during lower-cost periods and supplying power during peak demand. It can also be paired with renewable generation to improve solar and wind utilization and provide backup power during grid outages.

The REX BESS supports a maximum apparent output of 138kVA, while optional 100kW MPPT and 200kW STS configurations provide additional flexibility for different project requirements. The system has an IP54 rating and measures less than 1,700 × 1,350 × 2,200 mm, with a weight below 3,500 kg.

“With the REX BESS now available for deployment, Trex Energy is ready to partner with industries, renewable energy developers, and utilities across India who need proven, intelligent, and safe energy storage solutions,” said Bharat Chhittarka, Managing Director of Trex Energy.

The REX BESS 125kW/261kWh is now available for orders and deployment. Trex Energy said it will provide support covering site assessment, system design, installation, commissioning and ongoing maintenance, with customized configurations available for specific project requirements.
