Triveni Engineering Appoints Vivek Viswanathan as Whole-time Director to Strengthen Growth Strategy

Triveni Engineering & Industries Limited (TEIL) has appointed Vivek Viswanathan as an Additional Director, designated as Whole-time Director and Key Managerial Personnel (KMP), for a five-year term effective August 1, 2026, subject to approval by shareholders at the company’s upcoming Annual General Meeting.

The appointment follows the successful amalgamation of Sir Shadi Lal Enterprises Limited (SSEL) with Triveni Engineering under a Composite Scheme of Arrangement and is aimed at strengthening the company’s leadership as it integrates expanded operations.

Viswanathan brings over two decades of experience in the sugar and distillery sector. Prior to joining TEIL, he served as Joint Managing Director of SSEL, where he led manufacturing operations, supply chain management, cost optimisation initiatives, business turnaround efforts, and the execution of strategic growth programmes.

In his new role, he will be responsible for supporting the integration of TEIL and SSEL operations, driving operational excellence, accelerating synergies, and enhancing overall business performance across the combined entity.

Commenting on the appointment, Tarun Sawhney, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Triveni Engineering & Industries Limited, said the company is pleased to welcome Viswanathan to the Board, adding that his industry expertise and familiarity with the erstwhile SSEL business will be instrumental in unlocking the full potential of the integration and creating long-term value for stakeholders.

Viswanathan is an alumnus of St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi, the International Management Institute (IMI), New Delhi, and Columbia University, New York.

The appointment of Vivek Viswanathan reflects Triveni Engineering’s focus on building a strong leadership team to support its next phase of growth while strengthening operational capabilities across its sugar, ethanol, and engineering businesses.

Triveni Engineering & Industries Limited (TEIL) is a distinguished industrial conglomerate in India, with a rich legacy spanning over 90 years. As one of the country’s largest integrated producers of sugar and ethanol, TEIL is a cornerstone of the sugar industry and significantly contributes to power transmission and water treatment solutions. The company has also broadened its portfolio to encompass the manufacturing of Indian Made Indian Liquor (IMIL) and Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), in addition to managing a range of fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) brands that consistently deliver exceptional quality to the Indian market.
