Solar module manufacturer Waaree Energies has received a domestic order for the supply of 1,500 MW of solar modules from a customer engaged in power generation, transmission, and distribution, the company said in a regulatory disclosure.
The order includes the supply of 1,000 MW of solar modules compliant with the Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) mandate and 500 MW of non-DCR modules, reflecting demand from both government-linked projects and open-market solar installations. The contract is classified as a one-time supply agreement and is scheduled to be executed during the financial year 2026–27.
Waaree Energies clarified that the scope of the contract is strictly limited to the supply of solar modules and does not include engineering, procurement, construction, or operations and maintenance services. The inclusion of a significant DCR component indicates compliance with domestic sourcing norms applicable to certain regulated or government-backed projects, while the non-DCR portion caters to projects where such requirements are not mandatory.
The company also confirmed that no promoter, promoter group, or group company has any interest in the entity awarding the contract, and stated that the transaction does not constitute a related-party transaction.
Waaree Energies currently has a global solar module manufacturing capacity of 22.3 GW, comprising 19.7 GW in India and 2.6 GW in the United States. Its solar cell manufacturing capacity stands at 5.4 GW.
In recent developments, Waaree Power, a wholly owned subsidiary of Waaree Energies, commissioned two solar inverter manufacturing lines of 1.52 GW each, totaling 3.05 GW, at its facility in Sarodhi-Valsad, Gujarat. In the same month, Waaree Energies also commissioned an additional 1.5 GW of high-efficiency N-type solar module manufacturing lines at its Samakhiali plant in Kutch, Gujarat.
On the international front, Waaree Solar Americas, another wholly owned subsidiary, received an order in December for the supply of 288 MW of solar modules from Sabancı Renewables, a developer and owner-operator of utility-scale renewable energy projects in Texas, United States. Earlier, in November, Waaree Energies had also secured an order to supply 360 MW of solar modules from an undisclosed customer involved in the development, ownership, and operation of utility-scale solar and energy storage projects.
