solar engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) company Zodiac Energy Ltd. has entered into an agreement with Amanta Healthcare Ltd. for the installation of a 10.8 MWp captive solar power plant in Gujarat, marking another addition to its growing commercial and industrial (C&I) solar portfolio.
As per the agreement, Zodiac Energy will develop the solar project at Baroda village in Matar taluka of Kheda district, Gujarat. The electricity generated from the plant will be used exclusively for captive consumption by Amanta Healthcare, supporting the pharmaceutical company’s efforts to reduce dependence on conventional grid power and lower its energy costs. The details of the project were disclosed by Zodiac Energy in a regulatory filing.
Under the scope of work, Zodiac Energy will be responsible for the complete EPC execution of the project, including engineering, procurement, and construction of the 10.8 MWp solar power plant. The project aligns with the increasing adoption of renewable energy solutions by India’s commercial and industrial sector, particularly in Gujarat, which continues to attract captive solar investments due to favourable policies, strong solar irradiation, and rising industrial power demand.
Zodiac Energy was originally incorporated as Zodiac Genset Pvt. Ltd. in 1992 and was later renamed Zodiac Energy Pvt. Ltd. in 2007. The company transitioned into a public limited entity in 2017. Over the years, Zodiac Energy has built a strong presence in India’s solar EPC market, executing more than 300 MW of solar projects across rooftop, ground-mounted, and captive segments.
The company has worked with a wide range of prominent clients, including SunEdison India Ltd., the Adani Group, Torrent Power Ltd., Gujarat Energy Development Agency, the Reserve Bank of India, the Directorate of Lighthouse and Lightships, the Government of India, and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. According to the company, it has served more than 15,000 customers to date.
Zodiac Energy has clarified that the agreement with Amanta Healthcare does not involve any equity participation or promoter-related interest between the two entities.
Projects such as this highlight the growing role of captive solar power in helping Indian companies achieve greater cost efficiency while advancing sustainability and clean energy goals.
