ACME Solar Holdings has ordered 155 MW / 470 MWh of battery energy storage system (BESS) capacity for several projects in Rajasthan. This is a big step forward for India’s energy storage capabilities. The new development shows that the company is still committed to helping the power grid stay stable and making it easier for renewable energy to be used in the power system.
Project Deployment Across Key Locations
The commissioned capacity is spread across projects in key renewable energy hubs, including Bikaner and Jaisalmer. The installations have been executed in phases, with capacities of 60 MW and 95 MW, ensuring a structured rollout of storage infrastructure. These projects are connected to the Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS), enabling efficient power flow and broader grid connectivity.
Enhancing Grid Flexibility and Reliability
The battery storage systems are meant to make the grid more flexible by storing extra electricity when demand is low and giving it back when demand is high. The projects work on a merchant basis, taking advantage of the price differences between peak and off-peak electricity to make the best use of energy and help keep the grid stable.
With the addition of these projects, ACME Solar’s total commissioned BESS capacity has reached approximately 297.67 MW / 951.74 MWh. This expansion highlights the growing role of energy storage in managing renewable energy intermittency and ensuring a reliable power supply.
Scaling Up Storage Portfolio
The company is still growing its energy storage portfolio. It is working on a pipeline that will add about 835 MW / 3,114 MWh of BESS capacity. ACME Solar is now a major player in India’s quickly changing energy storage market thanks to this strong pipeline.
Supporting Renewable Energy Integration
The commissioning of these projects aligns with India’s broader push toward clean energy adoption and grid modernization. Battery energy storage systems are becoming increasingly critical for balancing supply and demand, particularly as renewable energy capacity grows across the country.
Driving the Energy Transition Forward
ACME Solar is helping to strengthen the country’s energy infrastructure in a big way through these changes. The new projects not only make the grid more resilient, but they also help renewable energy sources work together more efficiently. This helps India reach its long-term energy transition and sustainability goals.
