On Tuesday, ACME Solar Holdings said that its subsidiaries had ordered an extra 155 MW / 470.25 MWh of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) capacity.
With this latest addition, the company stated that its “total commissioned BESS capacity has reached 297.67 MW / 951.74 MWh,” marking a significant step in its energy storage expansion plans.
Part of Larger Planned Portfolio
The company is working on a total planned BESS capacity of 835 MW / 3,114.64 MWh across its special purpose vehicles (SPVs). The new capacity is part of a larger plan to strengthen the company’s position in the energy storage market.
Projects Located in Rajasthan
These BESS facilities are in Rajasthan and are connected to the Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS), which is already in use. This integration makes sure that power is sent efficiently and helps keep the grid stable.
Merchant-Based Operations to Boost Revenue
According to the company, the projects will operate on a merchant basis. They are expected to “generate an additional revenue stream through price differential between peak and non-peak demand hours.” This model allows the company to benefit from fluctuations in electricity pricing while supporting grid demand management.
Strengthening Energy Storage Presence
This new capacity shows that ACME Solar is still focused on growing its battery energy storage portfolio. It also shows how important BESS is becoming for integrating renewable energy and making sure that India has a reliable power supply as its energy landscape changes.
