Adani Power transfers 2,500 MW RE-RTC Contract to MSEDCL

Adani Power Limited (APL) has assigned the 2,500 MW renewable energy round-the-clock (RE-RTC) power supply contract awarded by Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) to Powerpulse Trading Solutions Limited (PTSL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Adani Energy Solutions Limited. The company disclosed the development in a regulatory filing dated September 8, 2026.

The contract was originally awarded to Adani Power through a Letter of Award (LOA) issued by MSEDCL on April 2, 2026, for the supply of 2,500 MW of RE-RTC power for 25 years from the Scheduled Commencement Date of Supply. The contract requires power to be aggregated from multiple sources while meeting specified minimum renewable-energy supply obligations.

2,500 MW RE-RTC Contract Shifted Within Adani Group

According to Adani Power’s filing, the company decided to assign the LOA to Powerpulse Trading Solutions Limited, following the receipt of the requisite approvals.

PTSL is a wholly owned subsidiary of Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL). The assignment transfers the rights and obligations associated with the MSEDCL contract from Adani Power to PTSL.

The move comes as Adani Power plans to focus its long-term investments on expanding its thermal, nuclear and international hydroelectric generation portfolio.

Following the assignment, Adani Power said it has entered into an agreement with PTSL to transfer the rights and obligations under the LOA.

What the MSEDCL Contract Covers

The original MSEDCL award provides for:

  • Contracted capacity: 2,500 MW
  • Power type: Renewable Energy Round-The-Clock (RE-RTC)
  • Offtaker: Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL)
  • Contract duration: 25 years
  • Supply structure: Power aggregated from multiple sources
  • Renewable requirement: Minimum renewable-power supply obligations
  • Original awardee: Adani Power Limited
  • New assignee: Powerpulse Trading Solutions Limited
  • Parent company of PTSL: Adani Energy Solutions Limited

The RE-RTC structure is designed to combine generation from different sources to provide a more consistent power supply while maintaining the specified renewable-energy component.

Adani Power to Focus on Baseload Generation

Adani Power said the assignment is aligned with its long-term plans to invest in thermal, nuclear and international hydroelectric projects.

By transferring the MSEDCL contract to PTSL, Adani Power intends to concentrate on its core business of baseload power generation under long-term arrangements.

The company said the transfer will allow it to focus on steady revenue generation and predictable profitability from its generation portfolio.

For PTSL, the transaction expands its role in long-term renewable power supply arrangements and places the 2,500 MW MSEDCL contract within the Adani Energy Solutions group.

Why the Assignment Matters

The development is significant because the contract itself remains a 25-year 2,500 MW RE-RTC supply commitment, but the entity responsible for fulfilling the contract is changing.

Rather than representing a new 2,500 MW award, the September 8 disclosure is an assignment of the existing LOA originally secured by Adani Power in April.

The transfer also reflects a broader separation of roles within the Adani Group, with Adani Power continuing to focus on generation assets while Powerpulse Trading Solutions takes over the renewable round-the-clock power supply obligation.

The transaction therefore places the long-term MSEDCL RE-RTC supply contract under an Adani Energy Solutions subsidiary, while Adani Power redirects its focus towards its planned expansion across thermal, nuclear and hydroelectric generation.

Adani Power’s latest disclosure confirms that the assignment has been completed after securing the requisite approvals and that the agreement transferring the rights and obligations under the LOA to PTSL has been executed.
