Adyant Renewables Private Limited, a group company of Datta Power Infra Private Limited (Datta Infra), has signed a 50 MW wind Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), marking SECI’s first C&I Power Purchase Agreement in India. is aimed at supporting the growing demand for renewable energy among commercial and industrial (C&I) consumers.
The agreement represents a move towards formalising renewable energy procurement arrangements in the C&I segment. Earlier initiatives involving C&I consumers had primarily progressed through memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and term sheets. The 50 MW PPA provides a formal power purchase framework between SECI and the project developer.
Under the agreement, Adyant Renewables will develop the 50 MW wind power project, while SECI will facilitate the power procurement arrangement. The project is intended to provide renewable electricity to C&I consumers and support their efforts to increase the use of clean energy in their operations.
The partnership comes amid increasing demand from commercial and industrial consumers for renewable electricity as businesses seek to reduce their dependence on conventional power sources and address decarbonisation requirements. Renewable power procurement through long-term arrangements can provide C&I consumers with access to clean electricity while supporting their sustainability objectives.
Kapil Sharma, Head – Corporate Affairs at Datta Infra, said the company takes pride in being a first mover in SECI’s C&I renewable energy initiative and looks forward to contributing to the growth of the emerging segment through sustainable energy solutions.
The company said it intends to commission the project at the earliest and contribute to India’s clean energy transition. The project will add wind-based renewable generation capacity while creating a structured avenue for C&I consumers to procure clean electricity.
The signing of the PPA also represents an expansion of SECI’s role in facilitating renewable energy procurement for the C&I segment. The agreement provides a formal mechanism for renewable power procurement beyond the earlier stage of MoUs and term sheets used in C&I initiatives.
Adyant Renewables and Datta Infra have positioned the agreement as a milestone in their renewable energy activities, with the 50 MW wind project expected to contribute to the development of clean power supply for commercial and industrial consumers in India.
