Electric mobility platform Bijliride has entered into a strategic partnership with Indofast Energy, a joint venture between Indian Oil Corporation and SUN Mobility, to accelerate its business-to-consumer (B2C) EV rental expansion. The collaboration focuses on addressing key infrastructure challenges in the EV ecosystem through the integration of battery-swapping solutions.
The goal of the partnership is to provide a faster, more reliable, and scalable electric mobility experience by using Indofast Energy’s large network of over 1,484 battery swap stations in 23 cities, which supports more than 3.5 million swaps every month.
Enhancing Efficiency Through Battery Swapping
The integration of battery-swapping infrastructure is expected to significantly reduce charging downtime and improve vehicle availability. Users will be able to replace depleted batteries within minutes, ensuring higher uptime and seamless ride continuity, particularly during peak demand periods.
This approach directly addresses operational challenges such as rider convenience, fleet utilisation, and turnaround time, thereby strengthening overall service efficiency and improving unit economics.
Phased Rollout and Expansion Plans
Hyderabad is the first market for the partnership, and over the next 12 to 18 months, they plan to move into Bengaluru, Pune, and Chennai.
In the first phase, Bijliride plans to put out several hundred electric two-wheelers. The fleet will grow as needed to meet demand. The Bijliride app will let you access the services. You can rent them on a daily, weekly, subscription, or long-term basis.
Leadership Perspective
Commenting on the partnership, Shivam Sisodiya, CEO and Co-Founder, Bijliride, said, “Our partnership with Indofast Energy is centered on making electric mobility more practical and accessible. By reducing downtime and improving availability, we are delivering a more reliable experience while accelerating our B2C growth.”
Driving Scalable Electric Mobility
The partnership shows how important battery-swapping infrastructure is becoming for making it easier for more people to use electric vehicles. The partnership is expected to improve operational performance, customer experience, and support India’s move toward more sustainable urban mobility by combining rental services with a strong energy network.
