Bondada Engineering Wins rs41 Crore Smart Metering Order from TGNPDCL

Bondada Engineering Limited (BEL) has secured a Letter of Intent (LOI) from Northern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited (TGNPDCL) for a smart energy metering project valued at approximately ₹41.01 crore. The order has been awarded to BEL through its joint venture with BEST Infra Private Limited, further strengthening the company’s presence in India’s growing smart metering and digital power infrastructure segment.

Under the project, Bondada Engineering will be responsible for a wide range of activities, including the procurement, supply, installation, integration, testing and commissioning of smart energy meters. The scope will also cover the operation and maintenance of the installed metering infrastructure over the stipulated project period.

The project involves the deployment of 40,000 smart energy meters across the TGNPDCL distribution network. The proposed deployment comprises:

  • 12,500 single-phase smart meters
  • 27,500 three-phase smart meters
  • Network operations and monitoring
  • PP Box maintenance
  • Cloud-based Head-End System (HES)
  • Meter Data Acquisition System (MDAS)
  • Meter Data Management System (MDMS)

The integrated digital infrastructure is expected to support automated meter data collection, monitoring and management, helping improve the efficiency and visibility of electricity distribution operations.

The project will involve system integration and associated digital infrastructure operations and maintenance in addition to the physical deployment of smart meters. By combining smart metering hardware with cloud-based data management systems, the project is designed to support more efficient monitoring and management of electricity consumption and distribution.

₹41.01 Crore Order to Be Completed in 11 Months

According to the company’s regulatory disclosure, the total contract value stands at ₹41,01,42,500, inclusive of taxes. The project is scheduled to be completed within 11 months from the date of execution of the Purchase Order (PO).

The order has been classified as a domestic project, with TGNPDCL serving as the awarding entity. The contract covers smart energy metering, system integration and the associated operations and maintenance of the digital metering ecosystem.

Subsidiary to Support Project Execution

Bondada Engineering said the project is strategically aligned with the product portfolio and capabilities of its subsidiary, Bondada E&E Pvt. Ltd. The subsidiary is expected to contribute its technical expertise, resources and operational capabilities toward the execution of the project.

The company’s involvement in smart metering comes as utilities across India increasingly adopt advanced metering infrastructure to modernise electricity distribution networks. Smart meters can enable utilities to collect consumption data remotely, improve monitoring and support more efficient billing and energy management.

With this latest order, Bondada Engineering is looking to further expand its footprint in technology-enabled infrastructure projects. The company said it remains focused on timely and efficient project execution while pursuing opportunities across high-growth infrastructure, energy and digital technology segments.

The ₹41.01 crore TGNPDCL order adds to BEL’s project portfolio and highlights the increasing role of smart metering and digital infrastructure in the modernisation of India’s power distribution sector.
