WattPower, a leading solar inverter and energy storage solutions provider, introduced its Advanced 506KTL Grid-Forming Utility-Scale Inverter on the opening day of the Renewable Energy India (REI) Expo 2026. Unveiled at the India Expo Mart, this smart string inverter is specifically designed to help EPCs and renewable energy developers build grid-ready solar projects that remain stable in weak-grid conditions and during severe grid disturbances.
Utility-scale solar projects today are expected to do far more than generate electricity. They must remain stable during grid disturbances, operate reliably in weak-grid environments, and meet evolving regulatory requirements without compromising plant performance. The WattPower 506KTL addresses these challenges directly through its advanced Grid-Forming architecture, which includes Virtual Inertia Support and Power Oscillation Damping. This enables EPCs and developers to reduce project risks, minimize solar curtailment, enhance grid stability, and improve long-term operational performance.
Engineered to improve project returns, the WattPower 506KTL offers 1000V AC and 1600V DC capabilities, significantly reducing power loss and lowering balance-of-system (BoS) costs. By delivering 40% more power density, the inverter helps reduce the overall inverter count, which translates to lower lifetime operating costs and maximized energy generation across the project’s lifecycle.
“Introducing the 506KTL at REI 2026 in the presence of IPPs, Developers, Policymakers, Industry leaders, and our renewable energy partners mark an important milestone for WattPower,” said Divya Prakash Choraria, CEO and Co-founder of WattPower. “The response on Day 1 reflects the sector’s growing focus on grid stability alongside generation capacity. As renewable energy integration increases, grid-forming technology will play an important role in supporting grid stability and optimising asset performance over the long term. The 506KTL reflects this shift, bringing grid readiness and long-term performance into sharper focus for utility-scale solar projects.”
Complementing its Grid-Forming architecture, the 506KTL integrates a suite of next-generation features designed to maximize operational efficiency and long-term reliability:
Advanced Grid-Support Capabilities
Virtual Inertia Support & Power Oscillation Damping: Provides essential stability and frequency regulation for weak-grid environments.
Black Start Function: During construction, the inverter supplies AC power for plant commissioning, reducing reliance on costly, polluting diesel generators.
Low SCR Operation: Ensures continuous, stable operation even in grids with heavily compromised Short Circuit Ratios.
Night Reactive Power Recovery: After the power grid is restored from a nighttime outage, the inverter’s AC-side relay automatically resets and continues to supply reactive power to the grid, meeting the reactive power requirements.
Next-Generation Hardware & Software Features
AI-Enabled Monitoring: Delivers real-time intelligence and continuous plant optimization to predict and mitigate faults.
Hybrid Cooling & Anti-Icing Fan: Ensures superior thermal management and dependable operation across extreme and diverse climatic conditions.
SSLD2 Protection Technology: Enhances equipment safety, operational reliability, and long-term resilience to maximize plant uptime.
By introducing the WattPower 506KTL at India’s premier clean energy exhibition, WattPower continues to expand its portfolio of dependable utility-scale solutions, reaffirming its commitment to delivering innovative technologies that help developers build reliable, high-performance, and grid-ready renewable energy projects.
